How to use and cite

Reuse is permitted under CC BY 4.0. Please credit Tipping Rules, link to this page where practical, and indicate if you made changes. Website content and design remain subject to the site terms.

When referring to the dataset in prose: “according to Tipping Rules’ Global Tipping Dataset (Version 2026.9.3, September 15, 2026).”

Describe it as editorial tipping guidance — not survey results, traveler tip rates, or a ranking of destinations.

Methodology

We compare multiple current sources for each destination, prioritising local and official guidance where available. Sources support the destination research as a whole and may not independently document every service shown. This is a versioned snapshot — catalog edits do not automatically change this file until we republish the Index.

How we review tipping guidance

Public versions use a YYYY.M label (example: 2026.9.3). Versioned CSV files remain fixed after publication.
