Countries where tipping is not expected

In these places, service is usually included in prices, or tipping is uncommon (including no-tipping culture in countries like Japan and South Korea). Rounding up or leaving a small amount is sometimes appreciated but not required.

Japan
Tipping is not expected in Japan. Excellent service is included, and a sincere thank you is the normal way to show.
China
Tipping is not expected in mainland China in most situations. Tour guides and drivers (organized tours) and upscale.
South Korea
Tipping is not expected in South Korea. Pay the bill as shown; additional tipping may cause confusion.
Denmark
Service is included in prices by law. Tipping is not expected. Round up or leave a small amount if you wish.
Iceland
Tipping is not expected in Iceland. Service charges (often around 15% at restaurants) are typically included in prices.
Norway
Tipping is not expected in Norway. Service is included in prices. In bars and restaurants locals may tip 5-15% when.
Sweden
Tipping is not expected. Service is included. Round up or leave 5-10% if you wish.
Finland
Tipping in Finland is not expected. Service is already included in menu prices, and locals rarely leave extra.
Singapore
Tipping in Singapore is not expected. Most sit-down restaurants already include a 10% service charge, and GST is added.
Taiwan
Tipping is not expected in Taiwan. Hotels and restaurants often add 10% service charge; no need to tip on top.
